We thought it was about time to write a bit more about one of our new online retailers in Australia. Shooii is the benjamin of Australian online footwear retailing and is determined to do things differently. Viewing the current state of online retail as a market with a stale sales process and stark aesthetics Shooii wants to liven things up with a more personal experience and great in-house customer service.
They offer a well edited selection of brands that is sure to please the contemporary-minded consumer or as they say: “Designs have been selected for the smart casual, the weekend warrior, the dapper and the delightful, the beachcomber and the young gun. Shooii sells footwear that brings style to lifestyles – that is against life compromised for fashion.”
Their website also features some insightful and innovative touches. They have what they call a “type anywhere” search function. Try it. Go to their website and start typing “Amsterdam Shoe Co”. Ha. You weren’t expecting that, were you? And when you’ve found your sheo of choice you can drag it to your cart at the bottom of the page. Shooii also has “on the foot” videos to show you what the shoes look like when being worn and a blog called the Shoostring blog that offers a behind the scenes look of the company, staff and their inspirations.
Last week we were at the opening of Baskèts, Amsterdam’s latest and greatest when it comes to offering you the best in sneakers and shoes. They’re next door to and affiliated with menswear store Jefferson Hotel at Elandsgracht 59. Come August, our new AW12 collection will be available at Baskèts.

Madrid’s stronghold for the hip set Grupo Sportivo has just redone their shoe shop Duke. Although we’ve never been we found a couple of pictures on their facebook page and we must say that it looks great. Duke has a wide choice ranging from the better choices of the big brands to the new styles of new generation small and independent brands. Duke is pretty much all you need when it comes to shopping for casual footwear and besides that they also sell accesories such as sunglasses, bags, backpacks and the occasional bike and longboard thrown in. And yes, that’s our longboard we’re talking about.
If you’re curious to see more we recommend stopping by in person but you can also have a look-see at the album on Grupo Sportivo’s facebook page where we snatched the pictures in the first place.
We’re now also available at Mood over Market on Overtoom 62.
What can we say about Jefferson Hotel that hasn’t been said already? Not much probably.
But just in case you have no clue which hotel we are talking about or why we would be selling our shoes at a damn hotel, here’s the 411:
Jefferson Hotel is one of the top mens fashion stores in Amsterdam and is definitely the one with the most original design. As its name may suggest it’s modeled after a hotel lobby. The interior is very clean and modern featuring dark wooden shelves, a reception desk and a seating area in the back. Jefferson Hotel offers a mix of high-end labels, independent streetwear labels, lifestyle products and anything else owner Jeffrey finds fitting for his store.
Jefferson Hotel is located in the heart of the lovely Jordaan area at the Elandsgracht 57 in Amsterdam.
