It’s about that time again for a fresh dose of culture. Amsterdam’s museums will be open tonight from 7 pm – 2 am with special programming, events and performances. If you’re looking to bust a move next to the nightwatch or listen to a poet in the van Gogh museum this is your chance.

Blues Before Sunrise

An interesting art project in Vondelpark. The Stedelijk Museum presents this project called “Blues Before Sunrise” by artist Steve McQueen. All 275 streetlights have been given a blue light instead of the standard white. More about this poetic exercise here.

Foam Pop In

We’re pretty sure this is where we’ll be this afternoon. Photography museum Foam opens a temporary space at the Museumplein in Amsterdam, which will have selected works on display, sell signed prints and a selection of magazines and books. And more importantly, it’s a good excuse to celebrate the fact that tomorrow is Friday. The opening is at 7pm and anyone is welcome so come by if you’re in the neighb.

“On Thursday 12 May Foam Pop In opens at the Gabriël Metsustraat, off the Museumplein in Amsterdam.  In the former Fortisbank Foam hosts a temporary space where new work by photographers from the in-house gallery Foam Editions as well as work by emerging talents will be on show. Participating artists until 7 August will be the following: Daniëlle van Ark, Kim Boske, Marnix Goossens, Elza Jo, Yvonne Lacet, Sanne Peper, Jaap Scheeren and Anne Schwalbe. Foam Pop In offers a selection of signed prints at attractive prices and a bookshop with inspirational magazines and books. Events, artist talks and presentations will be organized regularly.”
