Kodachrome is no more. Dwayne Photo, a small photo lab in rural Kansas has ended its Kodachrome processing service and they just happened to be the only photo lab left in the world that offered this service. Dutch advertising bigwig turned filmmaker Johan Kramer decided to do a project called “ByeBye Super8” to honor the medium. Kramer visited 8-year olds across the country and recorded classic filmcamera moments. He attended one child’s birthday, another child showed off his comic book collection and yet another child treats us to his latest dance moves. All of them also perform the quintessential Kodachrome trademark of waving at the camera. The 25 reels are shown simoultaneously at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
So if you’re over 60 and feel nostalgic about this stuff you can go see it until the 6th of February in Rotterdam. All you other folks are allowed in as well.
